I made this custom, sliding lid “medicine” box for my cousins girlfriend, Lynn.
The box is made from rough cut cedar with purple acrylic splines to help reinforce the mitered corners.
The box has a white acrylic bottom and a purple acrylic sliding lid. I used my “Longmill” cnc to etch the design on the top using a diamond tipped drag bit.
The name “Lynn” that’s on the front of the box was laser etched using my Ortur laser.
The splines were a little tricky to install as I couldn’t sand them after they were glued in as it would have sanded off the rough surface of the cedar I was trying to keep. This meant that I had to sand and insert each piece multiple times before gluing them in permanently.
Lynn was pretty impressed with the box and I was happy to make it for her:)
If you would like to order a box for yourself or as a gift, you can get ahold of me using the contact page to discuss how you would like it customized.
